Cloud Day Talk: Oregon Health Sciences University

As part of Cloud Day, Joe Gray, Ph.D., Associate Director for Biophysical Oncology, Knight Cancer Institute at Oregon Health & Science University, spoke about how deploying a private cloud is enabling precision medicine and precision medical analytics, the Collaborative Cancer Cloud, and their work to process huge amounts of data quickly to advance the fight against cancer. Oregon Health & ...Sciences University (OHSU) is a public university in Oregon, and the state’s only public academic health center. OHSU and Intel have teamed up to create the Collaborative Cancer Cloud (CCC), a precision medicine analytics platform that allows researchers to securely share genomic, imaging, and clinical data for potentially lifesaving discoveries. The end goal is to empower researchers and doctors to help patients receive a diagnosis based on their genome and potentially arm clinicians with the data needed for a targeted treatment plan. By 2020, we envision this happening in 24 hours - All in One Day. Key technology components of the CCC will be opened sourced, so research institutions of all sizes can use the technology to advance cancer research. They can also apply it to advance research in other diseases that have a genetic component, including Alzheimer’s, diabetes, autism and more.
