Functional Safety (FuSa)

Integrated Platforms to Keep Us Safe in the Autonomous World

Functional safety is defined as the absence of unreasonable risk caused by malfunctioning electrical and/or electronic (E/E) systems.

The proliferation of software-defined autonomous things in IoT presents businesses with new technical challenges and liability concerns. Functional Safety is addressing those concerns by a combination of techniques and methodologies.

International FuSa standards such as IEC 61508 (industrial) and ISO 26262 (automotive) define the requirements for classifying a product as FuSa-capable. Intel investment in FuSa helps customers to accelerate the development of safety-critical applications and workflows, such as those integrating robotics, autonomous systems, and industrial controls, providing a time-to-market advantage1.

A Comprehensive Approach

Intel's functional safety technology allows customers to accelerate development while meeting safety-critical requirements.

Note: Customer is responsible for safety of the overall system, including compliance with applicable safety-related requirements or standards.
