Filter Commands (Shortcut Menu)

You access these commands by right-clicking a design element in the schematic view, and then pointing to Filter.

The following commands allow you to display specific design elementsin a new page in the schematic view:

  • Bus Index Command— Displays the source or destination path of the bus index you select in theSelect Bus Indexdialog box in the schematic view.
  • Sources— Displays the source of the selected design element in the schematic view. If you filter a node, this command displays all of the node's import ports; if you filter an input port, this command displays all of the import nodes feeding the port.
  • Destinations— Displays all of the destinations of the selected design element in the schematic view. If you filter a node, this command displays all of the node's output ports; if you filter an output port, this command displays all of the fan-in sources that feed the port.
  • Sources & Destinations— Displays all of the sources and destinations of the selected design element in the schematic view.
  • Selected Nodes— Displays the selected nodes or nets, and any connections between them, in the schematic view.
Note: The Selected Nodes command displays only the nodes or nets selected in the RTL Viewer or Technology Map Viewer, and as a result does not use the Number of filtering levels and Stop filtering at register filtering settings specified in the RTL/Technology Map Viewer Options dialog box.
  • Between Selected Nodes Command— Displays the path and nodes in between two selected nodes in the schematic view.
  • Filtering Options—Opens the Filtering Options dialog box where you can turn on settings to Stop filtering at register and Filter across hierarchies. You can also adjust the range for the Maximum number of hierarchy levels between 1 and 15.
    • Stop filtering at register— Specifies that you want to stop filtering when you reach a register.
    • Filter across hierarchy— Specifies that you want to continue netlist expansion across related hierarchy levels. This option allows you to filter and connect netlists at different hierarchy levels into a single level in the schematic view. For example, you can view upper-level pin information and lower-level instance information without having to start a new filtering process.
