Warranty Eligibility of Intel® Processors
The way you obtain your Intel® Processor can help determine your warranty eligibility.
Four common ways to purchase Intel® Processors:
- As a genuine boxed processor from an Intel® Authorized Distributor.
Intel Authorized Distributors sell Intel processors in clearly marked boxes from Intel. We refer to these processors as boxed processors. They typically carry a three-year warranty
- As part of an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) system. We work closely with companies like HP, Lenovo, and Dell to produce optimized systems. We ship the processors to OEMs, and they typically pre-install the processor. We refer to these processors as tray or OEM processors. Intel doesn't provide direct warranty support. Contact your OEM or reseller for warranty support.

- As custom built-to-order systems from an Intel Technology Provider Program Member.
These program members have a relationship with Intel and can use those program benefits to help support their customers.- As refurbished, used, or engineering sample processors.
Some vendors misrepresent these processors as new. You might see used processors at auctions or marketplaces like eBay and Amazon. Intel warranty only applies to the original purchaser. Intel doesn't honor warranties for used, refurbished, or engineering sample products.

How do I determine my Intel Processor is covered under warranty?
- If you have an OEM processor, Intel doesn't provide direct warranty support. Contact your OEM or reseller for warranty support. See Intel Warranty Guide for Processors for more information.
- If you aren't sure you have an OEM processor, find the fan heatsink and processor markings then contact us
- Non-Retailed boxed Intel processors (referred to as Tray or OEM) are warrantied through the place of purchase for the length of time agreed to at the time of purchase only. Intel Corporation does not offer a direct warranty for non-retailed boxed processors
- The Intel boxed processor limited three-year warranty starts with the original purchaser of the product in its boxed state or built into a system. The processor limited three-year warranty is not transferrable to parties purchasing the product in subsequent sales.
- If your system is newer than three years, see Intel® Boxed Processor Verification. Determine if you have a boxed or OEM processor.
| Note | Have the fan and processor markings when you contact Intel Customer Support. Specific fan heatsinks ship with most processors. Mobile and some enthusiast SKUs don't ship with a fan heatsink or thermal solution. |
