Explains the troubleshooting steps when dealing with the "Processor Thermal Trip" event log
Node reboots unexpectedly and SEL shows Processor Thermal Trip:
1 | 02/21/2018 | 09:57:27 | Event Logging Disabled SEL | Log area reset/cleared | Asserted
2 | 02/22/2018 | 10:36:33 | Processor Status | Thermal Trip | Asserted
3 | 02/22/2018 | 10:36:55 | Processor Status | Thermal Trip | Deasserted
The Processor Thermal Trip event initially means the processor got so hot that its over-temperature protection was triggered and the system was shut down to prevent damage (qtd. on page# 49 of the System Event Log (SEL) Troubleshooting Guide)
If this was a one-time event; if the fans are currently working fine and temperature is normal, proceed clearing the System Event Log and performing a stress test on this system. Otherwise, please, contact Intel Customer Support with the event logs for analysis.
