What are you seeing?
Important note:Before trying any of the following troubleshooting steps, Intel strongly recommends updating your Wireless and Bluetooth drivers to version 22.20.X.X or newer. Check with your OEM for the latest drivers available for your system or visit Download Center if you are using an Intel Generic Driver.

Code 10 errors in Device Manager for Bluetooth or Wireless (Wi-Fi) Devices can be caused to many different issues. Usually, a Code 10 error is a temporary error, generated when Device Manager can't start the hardware device. However this error is considered a generic message indicating an unspecified problem.

This most commonly occurs after running a Windows Update that includes Wi-Fi or Bluetooth updates. 

A Code 10 error in Device Manager can occur when:

  • Bluetooth cannot be enabled
  • In Device Manager, there is a Yellow bang (!, exclamation mark) next to the Bluetooth or Wireless (Wi-Fi) device
  • In Device Manager, the properties of the Bluetooth or Wireless device shows status = "This device cannot start. (Code 10) STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE”

  • Intel recommends to test using your OEM drivers. If you still get the error after re-installing these, then try the Intel Generic drivers for Bluetooth or Wireless adapters.
  • Important: Download the drivers before uninstalling the driver if you are following the instructions for a clean install process.

Before proceeding with any of the troubleshooting steps below, Intel strongly recommends to make sure your system is running the latest driver available from your OEM or Intel generic drivers for both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth version 22.20.X or newer.

To get the latest generic drivers from Intel, you can automatically update your drivers using the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant

 

If the issue persists proceed with the following steps:

Identify which WI-FI adapter and Bluetooth device your system is running, then proceed with the Clean Installation process explained here: Clean Installation of Wireless Drivers this procedure also applies to Bluetooth drivers.

  1. Install all available Windows Updates.
  2. Perform a Clean Installation of Wireless Drivers. Clean installation of the wireless/Bluetooth drivers is a troubleshooting step recommended to remove any previous installation files that might cause conflicts with new driver installations.
    • Intel Wireless device. Example: Intel(R) Wireless-AC 9560 160MHz

    • Intel Bluetooth device. Example: Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R)

    • When you uninstall the Wi/FI/Bluetooth device, it may become an unknown device, which is expected. The device will be identified again after you reinstall the driver.

  3. Reboot the PC

If the issue persists, additional troubleshooting from your OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) might be required, refer to your system manufacturer for guidance on settings/updates. See Computer Manufacturer Support Websites for a list of common OEM providers.

 

If still your system is showing the error, contact your OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) for additional support
