The Intel® 300 Series Chipset is a scalable chipset designed for motherboards that support the 9th Gen and 8th Gen Intel® Core™ desktop processors. A key component to maintaining this broad compatibility while enabling processor innovations on the platform is the motherboard BIOS. 

The latest release of the 9th Gen Intel® Core processors contains several changes. This may require a BIOS update to your Intel® 300 Series Chipset-based motherboard in order to boot.  Intel recommends you update the BIOS on your Intel 300 Series Chipset-based systems for compatibility with the latest 9th Gen Intel® Core™ desktop processors.
