Error Code - Resizing the Drive for Acceleration with Intel® Optane™ Memory
This solution has been verified by our customers to fix the issue with these environment variables
One of the following Error Codes was received when managing an Intel® Optane™ memory device: 0xA0000002, 0xA001004B, 0xA001004C, 0xA001004E, 0xA0010053, 0xA0010054, 0xA0010055, 0xA0010059, 0xA001005D, 0xA005004E, 0xA005004B, 0xA0050055, 0xA0070008, 0xA0070011
How to fix it:
To support system acceleration with Intel Optane memory, the drive to be accelerated must contain at least 5 MB of continuous unallocated space at the end of the drive. Intel Optane memory needs this space to store configuration information to successfully pair the drive with the memory module.
This error indicates that the software could not locate enough space on the drive during enabling, or something on the system blocked the software from shrinking the volume to create the space.
Steps to resolve:
Note |
Back up all data/files before proceeding with the steps below. |
Manually shrink the disk to be accelerated:
Step 1: Open Disk Management (Press the Windows key + x).
Step 2: Right-click the partition at the end of the disk to be modified.
Step 3: Select ‘Shrink Volume’.
Step 4: Enter 5 MB in the ‘Enter the Amount of space to shrink in MB’ field.
Step 5: Press ‘Shrink’.
Step 6: Attempt to enable acceleration.
If this option is not available, the partition may be locked (typically a Recovery partition) and the software cannot automatically adjust the size [0xA0010053, 0xA0010054, 0xA0010055, 0xA0050055, 0xA0070011]
- See the additional options to manually resize the partition.
If this is not successful, check the following for additional reasons the system cannot provide this space:
-
- (For HDDs) If there’s no space, defrag the system volume to create shrinkable space.
- Press the Windows key and type Defragment, the Defragment and Optimize Drives app should be available in the options.
- Is the capacity of the drive completely in use?
- (For HDDs) If there’s no space, defrag the system volume to create shrinkable space.
-
- Acceleration with Intel® Optane™ memory does not support ‘Dynamic’ type drives, only ‘Basic’ type. See here
- Unsupported Partition Structure [0xA0010059]
- Acceleration with Intel® Optane™ memory does not support the MBR partition structure, only GPT. See additional options on converting the partition structure from MBR to GPT:.
- Unsupported File System [0xA001005D]
- Drive to be accelerated and partitions must be of NTFS file system
