Can the previous VREFP_ADC pin remain connecting to external 1.25V reference source although the pin name has been changed to GND in the current Intel® Stratix® 10 Device Pin-Out Files?

Environment

  • Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition
  • BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
    Description

Yes.  The VREFP_ADC pin for the external reference source of the on-chip voltage sensor in Intel® Stratix® 10 was defeatured, and the pin name has been changed to GND in the current Intel Stratix 10 Device Pin-Out Files.  Even if the previous VREFP_ADC pin remains connected to the external 1.25V reference source, the Intel Stratix 10 device always uses the internal reference source and won't cause any problems.  So If your existing board has connected the pin to an external 1.25V reference source, you don’t need to modify it.  For the new design, Intel recommends connecting the pin to GND.

The VREFN_ADC pin was also removed, and the pin name has been changed to GND; though, since the pin was recommended to be connected to GND, you don't need to take care of it too.

    Resolution

The previous VREFP_ADC pin can remain connecting to external 1.25V reference source although the pin name has been changed to GND in the current Intel® Stratix® 10 Device Pin-Out Files.
