Why do I observe Avalon-ST reconfiguration failure when I upgrade the Intel® Stratix® 10 device configuration bitstream with a newer Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version?

Environment

  • Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition
  • BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
    Description

If you reconfigure an Intel® Stratix® 10 device with a configuration bitstream generated by a different or newer Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version, and if there is data corruption in the first 256kB of the bitstream, the reconfiguration will fail. In addition, there is a small chance that a subsequent reconfiguration with a good bitstream will not be successful.

This issue impacts AVSTx8, x16, and x32 configuration schemes.

    Resolution

Reconfigure the Intel® Stratix® 10 device with JTAG configuration. If JTAG configuration cannot be used, power cycle the device and configure the Intel® Stratix® 10 device with a known good bitstream.
