Why is the Rapid Recompile option grayed out in Quartus II software 14.0?

Environment

  • Quartus® II Subscription Edition
    • BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
    Description

    Due to a problem in Quartus® II Software version 14.0, the Rapid Recompile option may be grayed out. This option is in the Quartus II menu Processing  > Start  > Start Rapid Recompile. This problem affects designs when the top level project name and revision name are different.

    Resolution

    To work around the problem, use the command-line option

    quartus_sh --flow recompile <project> [-c <revision>]

    This problem is scheduled to be fixed in a future release of the Quartus II software.
