Additional Information for Korea-based Users Regarding Privacy Policy

The Intel® Global Privacy Notice outlines Intel’s personal information handling practices. This document contains additional information for users residing in Korea. It should be read in conjunction with the Intel Global Privacy Notice.

Items of Personal Information Handled

Please refer to Intel’s Global Privacy Notice for a description of the categories of personal information handled by Intel.

Purpose of Collecting and Handling Personal Information

Intel collects and handles personal information for, among others, the following purposes. If the purposes are modified, Intel will take the necessary measures in accordance with Article 18 of the Personal Information Protection Act, including obtaining separate consent:

  • Website Membership and Management

Intel handles personal information for purposes of confirming intent to obtain membership, identifying and verifying members for provision of membership services, maintaining and managing membership eligibility, preventing improper use of services, confirming legal guardians’ consent when handling personal information of children under the age of 14, various communications and notices, and the handling of complaints.

  • Provision of Goods or Services

Intel handles personal information for delivery of goods, provision of services, delivery of contracts and invoices, provision of contents, provision of personalized services, identification, age verification, clearance and settlement of charges, and collection of claims.

  • Utilization in Marketing and Advertisement

Intel handles personal information for market research, research and development of goods/services, telemarketing, direct/delivery marketing, first and third party marketing, interest based advertising, provision of information on goods/services/events and other provision of promotional information and marketing activities.

  • Handling of Request and Complaints

Intel handles personal information for purposes of identification of complainants, confirmation of matters regarding requests and complaints, communications and notices for factual findings and notification of processing results.

Period of Retention and Use, and Destruction of Personal Information

Intel handles and retains personal information within the period of use and retention permitted by law or the period of use and retention to which consent was received at the time of collection of personal information from the provider of information.

Intel will destroy personal information without delay when it becomes no longer necessary due to expiration of the period for retention or achievement of the purposes of handling, etc.

If any personal information is required to be preserved by any laws and regulations even though the period of retention to which the provider of information consented has expired or the purposes of handling have been achieved, Intel will retain the relevant personal information as required.

Intel follows guidelines provided by its IT organization with respect to the secure deletion of personal information, which are designed to permanently render the data unrecoverable.

Sharing Your Personal Information

Intel may share your personal information with any Intel subsidiary or affiliate or Intel authorized partners (“third parties”) as described in the section “Items of Personal Information Handled,” “Purpose of Collecting and Handling Personal Information,” and "Period of Retention and Use, and Destruction of Personal Information” above. Exercising of Rights regarding Personal Information

Intel respects individuals’ rights in how personal information is used and shared. You may request perusal, correction, suspension of handling or deletion of your personal information by: using the online Contact Us form; or sending a letter to one of the postal addresses listed in the "How to Contact Us” section of the Global Privacy Notice including your name, email address, account identification, and purpose of the request. If you request a change to or deletion of your personal information, please note that we may still need to retain certain information for recordkeeping purposes, and/or to complete any transactions that you began prior to requesting such change or deletion (e.g., when you make a purchase or enter a promotion, you may not be able to change or delete the personal information provided until after the completion of such purchase or promotion). Some of your information may also remain within our systems and other records where necessary for compliance with applicable law.

You may exercise the above rights through a representative, such as a legal guardian or an authorized person.

Security of Your Personal Information

Intel uses a combination of industry standard security measures, including administrative, technical and physical safeguards, to protect your personal information from loss and misuse.

  • Administrative safeguards: establishment and implementation of internal management plan and regular employee training.
  •  Technical safeguards: management of access to the personal information handling system, installation of access control system, encryption of identification information, and installation of security programs.
  • Physical safeguards: control of access to computer rooms and data storage rooms.

Children's Privacy

In Korea, Intel does not normally collect the personal information of children under the age of 14. If we do, we will require proper consent from a parent or legal guardian, and we will verify such consent through proper methods prescribed under laws. In this regard, we may request for name and other information relating to the parent or legal guardian to the extent required to verify proper consent. If we learn that we have collected children's personal information without legal guardians’ consent, we will delete it from our systems.
